Designing a Scalable Visual Ecosystem for Automations and AI Agents
I created a scalable visual identity for a growing portfolio of enterprise automation and AI products. The system supports more than 60 RPA automations and 20 AI agents through character design, branding, UX, motion, marketing, and a centralized SharePoint catalog experience designed to help employees discover, recognize, and understand internal technology.
As the lead designer for the program, I created and maintained the visual system across the full automation and AI portfolio, working directly with application owners, developers, automation teams, and business stakeholders from discovery through launch.

The Challenge
As automation and AI solutions continued to grow across the organization, employees needed an easier way to discover, understand, and recognize the tools available to them. Each application solved a different problem, but there wasn't a consistent way to present them or communicate their value.
The Solution
I created a unified visual system that gives every automation and AI application its own personality while keeping the overall experience consistent. Through illustration, branding, videos, and a centralized SharePoint experience, the system is designed to help employees quickly understand what each application does and how it can support their work.

The Visual Ecosystem
Built from simple shapes, clean geometric forms, and approachable personalities, the system branches into two distinct product families. Robots represent structured, task-driven automation through mechanical design, while animal-inspired creatures give AI applications a more organic and intelligent identity.

Purpose
Aretha automates supplier outreach, collects responses, and generates reports that help maintain accurate contact information and support audit readiness.
Design Challenge

Inspired by legendary soul performers, Aretha's signature glasses and microphone establish her as the recognizable voice of supplier outreach.

Rosetta
Purpose
Rosetta automates the verification and preparation of translated eCOA screen reports, helping teams coordinate localized documents for upload into the eTMF.
Design Challenge
Communicate language, accuracy, and collaboration through an approachable identity for a highly technical translation workflow.
Visual Inspiration
Inspired by the Rosetta Stone, her translation-symbol glasses represent multilingual communication, while her robotic design conveys precision and reliability.
Remy
Purpose
Remy automates document preparation and redaction for the Trial Disclosure team, improving consistency while protecting sensitive information.
Design Challenge
Make a complex, compliance-focused document workflow feel friendly, organized, and easy to understand.
Visual Inspiration
Designed as a clever robotic mouse working behind the scenes, Remy represents intelligence and attention to detail. His checklist reinforces his role in guiding documents through preparation and redaction.
CeSaR
Purpose
CeSaR automates the formatting, quality checks, and assembly of Clinical Study Reports, allowing medical writers to focus on scientific content.
Design Challenge
Represent precision, structure, and authority while making a technical medical-writing workflow easy to recognize.
Visual Inspiration
Inspired by Julius Caesar, CeSaR's Roman laurel crown symbolizes leadership and excellence, reflecting his role as a trusted clinical-writing assistant.
Project Milestone
As the program's first automation mascot, CeSaR established the visual language that grew into a library of more than 60 bots.
Scaling the System
As the number of automations grew, consistency became just as important as creativity. The design system allows every bot to feel unique while remaining part of a recognizable family of enterprise automation products.
Intelligent Assistants
Giving AI Applications a Personality
Unlike RPA bots, AI agents interact directly with employees. Each application receives a unique animal or creature identity that helps communicate its purpose while making the technology feel approachable and memorable.

An octopus's intelligence and ability to manage multiple tasks reflect Octavious's role in connecting users with information from many sources. Each arm represents a different document or resource.
Fenwick — KnowledgePath
Purpose
KnowledgePath helps teams securely find, compare, and understand documentation through AI-powered search and topic-specific insights.
Design Challenge
Communicate intelligence, speed, and trusted knowledge while making document discovery feel intuitive.
Visual Inspiration
The fox represents intelligence, curiosity, and skillful navigation. The shield on Fenwick's head symbolizes secure access and his role as a trusted guide through complex information.
Tery — PteraShield
Purpose
PteraShield identifies and redacts personally identifiable information from PDFs, tracks progress, and delivers protected documents for download.
Design Challenge
Represent security and document protection through an approachable identity for an automated redaction workflow.
Visual Inspiration
Tery's pterodactyl identity gives the application a memorable personality. Its sharp vision and aerial perspective reflect the ability to locate sensitive information and protect documents accurately.
Sonar — PatternScope
Purpose
PatternScope analyzes written reports to uncover emerging trends, support oversight, and inform decisions.
Design Challenge
Represent intelligence, awareness, and collaboration through an approachable identity for advanced data analysis.
Visual Inspiration
Dolphins are intelligent, highly aware, and skilled at detecting changes in their environment. These qualities reflect Sonar's ability to uncover patterns, communicate insights, and support collaboration.

Each system connects the agent character, application logo, color palette, typography, launch materials, demo video, and catalog content.
One Connected Experience
Although the RPA bots and AI agents serve different purposes, they are designed as one connected ecosystem. Shared branding, consistent layouts, and centralized catalogs are designed to help employees explore available tools and understand how they fit together.
Expanding the Experience
The visual system continues to grow alongside the automation and AI portfolio. To date, I have developed six complete AI agent launch campaigns—including branding, demo videos, supporting graphics, and catalog content—as well as five capabilities videos for RPA automations. Additional applications are being incorporated as the centralized SharePoint experience moves toward full launch.
Final Thoughts
What began with a single automation mascot has grown into a visual ecosystem supporting more than 80 enterprise automation and AI products. This ongoing project demonstrates how I combine UX, branding, illustration, and motion to translate complex technology into experiences employees can recognize, understand, and trust.
