Hidden Red Panda

Hidden Red Panda is a fully playable, research-driven board game designed to raise awareness about the endangered red panda. The project began with in-depth research on the red panda's habitat, behavior, and the threats it faces in the wild. That knowledge was transformed into an engaging narrative: players take on the role of a red panda navigating the high temperate forests of the Eastern Himalayas, avoiding dangers like deforestation, predators, and traps, while trying to find their mate and make it home before others.

Every component of the game was thoughtfully designed to enhance both playability and educational value. This included the game board, cards, custom game pieces, packaging, instruction manual, and a pregame informational packet that introduces players to the species. The visual and physical design elements were crafted to immerse players in the red panda's world, using color, iconography, and thematic storytelling to reflect their environment and challenges.

The final result is an educational tool disguised as a competitive and fun board game. It encourages players to not only enjoy a strategic experience but also develop empathy and understanding of red pandas and the threats they face. Hidden Red Panda effectively blends design, storytelling, and conservation education in a way that invites curiosity and raises awareness.
